
What to do after Water Damage
Water damage can be extremely damaging to your home or business, and MrRestore wants to help minimize the amount and severity of the damage by informing you of these tips to better assure that secondary damage doesn’t happen to your home or business. Use caution and consider your safety before following any of these tips and advice.
What to do immediately after flooding:
- Take pictures of damaged areas before anything else
- Remove excess water by mopping and blotting
- Wipe excess water from wood furniture after removal of lamps and tabletop items
- Remove and prop wet upholstery and cushions
- Place aluminum foil or wood blocks between furniture legs and wet carpeting
- Turn air conditioning on for maximum drying in summer
- Remove colored rugs from wet carpeting
- Remove art objects to a safe, dry place
- Do not enter any area with standing water
- Do not vacuum anything
- Do not walk on wet surfaces, if possible
- Do not leave books, magazines, or colored items on wet carpet or floors
