Frozen pipes that burst really can happen to anyone, though, it is more likely to happen if you home is on the older side. Though, if your pipes are not properly insulted, it can also happen. Take away: it can happen to anyone. What happens when pipes freeze is that the water running through them freezes, which then expands, and can cause those that are weaker to burst. Thankfully, we are here to give you some tips if and when a pipe does burst at your home.

Tips for if (or when) a pipe does burst…

1. Turn off water (and maybe even your electricity)

Although this step may seem like a no-brainer, it is a crucial step that you might forget while you are freaking out (we’re all human, it happens). Go to your main water valve and shut it off as soon as possible. When it comes to electricity, it should be turned off in the section of where the water damage has occurred—safety first!

Note: if you live in an apartment and do not have access to these things, make sure to call your landlord or property manager so that they can help you out.

2. Call Mr Restore

Mr Restore is here to not only answer all of your questions, but we are here to help you get your house or apartment back to normal. As always, we will be on the scene in 60 minutes or less, and our water damage services are available 24/7. Even if your pipes burst on a national holiday at 3 in the morning, we will be there to help!

3. Remove Water

By mopping up water, getting it with towels, or even buckets, you can save your space from further buildup of things like mold and mildew.

Pipes bursting is a scary thing to go through, but we here at Mr Restore are here to help you through the whole process. Remember: stay calm, and Mr Restore will be there in an hour or less to help you with your water damage.
