4 Fire Hazards During the Holiday Season

The holidays are full of excitement, family, fun, and celebration. However, during many of these things, potential fire hazards surround us. "U.S. fire departments responded to an estimated average of 860 home structure fires per year that began with decorations, excluding Christmas trees, in 2009-2013. (Source: NFPA)

It's important to remember to stay safe and to use caution throughout the season. For example, many of us use candles to decorate and to have our house smelling nice but did you know that according to the NFPA, the top 3 days for home candle fires were:

  • Christmas
  • New Year's Day
  • Christmas Eve

Candles are among some of the top hazards for this season. Awareness is the first part of prevention, so we've created some helpful tips for you and your family.
